The Midland Mercedes Club gathered in Rotorua recently for a memorable day of friendly competition, great food, and even better company.
Members met at Motions on Te Ngae Road for a relaxed coffee catch-up before lacing up their bowling shoes and heading to the lanes for a spirited battle of Ladies versus Gentlemen in a two-game ten-pin bowling challenge.
The competition got underway with the gentlemen feeling quietly confident. However, the ladies quickly demonstrated that they had come to play, racing ahead with some impressive early scores and putting the pressure firmly on their opponents. A flurry of strikes from both teams kept the contest close throughout the first game, with honours remaining very much even as the final frames approached.
After a brief reset and plenty of good-natured banter, the second game began. Once again, the ladies came out firing, stringing together strike after strike and leaving the gentlemen scrambling to keep pace. Despite a determined comeback and some excellent bowling from the men's team, the ladies held their advantage when it mattered most.
When the final ball of the day was bowled, the result was clear: the ladies emerged victorious, earning well-deserved bragging rights and congratulations from all involved. The gentlemen, while humbled, have already hinted at a rematch next time!
Following the excitement on the bowling lanes, members moved into Rotorua city to enjoy lunch together at Mr Wolf. Gathering around one large table, everyone enjoyed good food, plenty of laughter, and the opportunity to relive the highlights of the day's competition.
The afternoon provided a wonderful chance to catch up with fellow club members, share stories, and strengthen the friendships that make the Midland Mercedes Club such a special community. After several enjoyable hours of dining and socialising, members slowly made their way home, especially those who had travelled some distance to attend.
A sincere thank you goes to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a success. Events like these remind us that while our shared passion for Mercedes-Benz vehicles brings us together, it's the camaraderie, friendship, and fun that keep us coming back.
Congratulations to our winning ladies' team and we look forward to the rematch!
